WHAT WE NEED:
The Town of Harrisburg currently has an employment opportunity in our Finance Department for an Accounting Technician I. An employee in this class is responsible for a variety of paraprofessional accounting and fiscal duties and responsibilities with a primary responsibility for processing accounts payable for the Town. Other responsibilities include general ledger data entry, preparing a variety of financial reports, filing, and pulling information from files, processing bi-weekly payroll, administering the purchasing card program, and performing other responsible fiscal and office work. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Work requires use of paraprofessional accounting knowledge and accuracy in data input and review. Work is performed under regular supervision and is evaluated through conferences and by review of records and reports to determine the accuracy and timeliness of work and by independent audit of the financial records.
DESIREABLE CANDIDATE:
Requires graduation with an associate’s degree in accounting and considerable experience in an automated fiscal or accounting environment, preferably in the public sector; or an equivalent combination of education or experience.

Salary range for this position is $40,487 - $60,237. The hiring range is $40,487 - 49,374 and starting salary will be dependent on qualifications and prior experience. Upon hire will be eligible for $2,500 sign-on bonus.
